In the Summer of 2023, I supported the Over-the-Rhine International Film Festival as a contracted intern for the summer.
With tools available in Adobe Premiere Pro, I and another intern successfully created open captions for all 50+ films in the festival.
For films that were submitted with captions, this involved quality checking, formatting, and exporting open captions for an accessible screening of each film.
For films that had none, this involved transcribing all dialogue, adding captions for music and sound effects, timing out captions, and sending files to filmmakers to be checked and cleared.
Beginning in late 2022, I worked remotely as a Student Digital Accessibility Assistant (SDAA) for Ohio State's College of Medicine for about a year.
As an SDAA, I developed skills in making multiple forms of media more accessible. My main duty was to edit and deliver closed caption tracks for published videos.
I also formatted and delivered Microsoft PowerPoints and Word Documents using the available accessibility tools (writing complex alt text, determining reading order, assigning appropriate headings, and checking color contrast).
